In South Africa a babe elephant was attacked by a crocodile while it went to drink water with its folks. When the crocodile got hold of the baby elephant, the entire herd of elephant’s primary went crazy, running around and trumpeting, and then proceeded to come to the save of the baby elephant. After it was saved, all the elephants of the herd stayed around the baby elephant for a while, making sure that it was okay. The ones coming to the save were most almost certainly female, particularly the maternal female.
